Julia Carrillo has been exploring the intersection of nature, math, and art. With degrees in Mathematics and Visual Arts she truly experiments with representations of natural life through geometry. As a system for understanding nature, math sees energy as its fuel and Carrillo strives to show how different forms of energy can be made visible. Light, sound, and movement are developed alongside three-dimensional shapes in her work. She began her artistic journey in Mexico and it’s taken her to have exhibitions and residencies in Korea and New York, as well as multiple grants in her native country. Her work is currently exhibited in Monterrey and Mexico City.
